FAQ
Common questions about Darbox
Products, Sizes & Specifications
Darbox supplies square and round containers in a range of capacities from 12 liters to 120 liters. Capacity and overall dimensions are listed for each model, and our team can confirm the closest match to your fill volume and pallet configuration.
Darbox containers are manufactured from recyclable mono-material components, with high-quality HDPE (high-density polyethylene) container bodies and durable PP (polypropylene) lids or components, depending on the product.
The most suitable container depends on the product, required capacity, weight, transport method, regulatory requirements and handling conditions. Darbox works closely with clients to review these requirements and recommend suitable options.
Darbox serves pharmaceutical, chemical, agricultural, animal health, cosmetic, food ingredient, flavor and fragrance industries, with applications including APIs, excipients, intermediates, powders, granules, tablets, pastes and other sensitive or high-value materials.
Darbox offers square and round container ranges in a variety of capacities. Where specific requirements apply, our team can provide product guidance, packaging development support and technical input to help identify the most suitable solution.
UN Certification & Hazardous Goods
Selected Darbox containers are available with UN certification for the transport of hazardous goods. Packaging must be selected according to the specific material, applicable UN approval and transport requirements. Clients should confirm that their product conforms to these conditions.
Yes. UN-certified options are available across the Darbox range, with products tested to meet internationally recognized performance standards for the transport of hazardous goods.
A UN packaging code identifies the packaging type, material and construction. In 1H2, the first digit is the packaging type (1 = drum), the letter is the material (H = plastic) and the final digit is the construction (1 = closed head, 2 = removable head). A following X, Y or Z indicates the packing groups for which the packaging is approved. Darbox can confirm the exact code marked on each UN-certified product. The Darbox code is 4H2.
Darbox UN-certified packaging is tested in accordance with applicable international requirements for major transport modes, including ICAO/IATA for air, ADR/RID for road and rail and IMO/IMDG for sea transport.
UN certification involves demanding performance testing. For this reason, UN-certified Darbox containers may also be selected for sensitive or high-value products where strength, reliability and secure handling are important.
Darbox operates under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system and an ISO 14001 certified environmental management system and is HACCP approved. Selected products are also available with UN certification.
Materials, Safety & Compatibility
Chemical compatibility depends on the substance, its concentration, temperature and contact time. HDPE and PP resist a wide range of acids, alkalis and salts, but not all solvents. Send us the product details or a safety data sheet and our team will confirm suitability before you order.
Darbox uses food-grade mono-materials for applicable products, providing an additional level of material quality for industries where hygiene and product protection are particularly important.
Food-contact suitability should be confirmed per product against the regulation applicable to your market, such as Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 in Europe, or FDA food-contact requirements in the United States. Declarations of compliance are available on request for relevant products.
HDPE and PP combine durability and impact resistance with the practical performance required for demanding industrial packaging. Both are thermoplastics widely used across regulated industries.
Darbox containers feature a user-friendly press-on closure with integral tamper evidence. The design eliminates the need for a separate metal clamp ring, helping simplify closing, handling and warehouse operations. With lids supplied separately from the nested Darbox containers, filling and closing are faster and require fewer handling steps.
Each material suits different needs. HDPE and PP do not corrode or absorb moisture, are lighter than steel and can be cleaned and reused, which suits hygroscopic powders and moisture-sensitive products. Darbox can advise on which format fits your product and transport route.
Logistics, Storage & Cost Efficiency
Yes. Darbox containers nest when empty and stack when full, so both inbound storage and outbound pallets are used efficiently. Pallet quantities vary by model and capacity. Our team can confirm the layer pattern and units per pallet for your chosen container.
Darbox containers are designed to reduce storage, handling and transportation costs through efficient nesting, stacking and pallet utilization.
Sustainability & EU Compliance
Yes. Darbox containers are made from recyclable HDPE and PP components, supporting a sustainable approach to industrial packaging. Their mono-material construction helps simplify material recovery at end of life and enables clients to manage recycling more responsibly through suitable recycling channels.
Darbox packaging is designed around principles central to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), including recyclability, material efficiency, reduced packaging volume and improved logistics efficiency. Compliance should be assessed according to the applicable product and regulatory requirements.
Nestable design, efficient pallet utilization and durable recyclable materials help reduce wasted space, transport movements and resource use throughout the supply chain.
